About Devotion:

Devotion is commonly used when referring to a signifcant other or someone another cares about deeply that said person is committed to living with; however it can also be used when talking about religion or worship. Both of these definitions and observations are neither wrong nor completely accurate.

The concept behind the emotion is that it is a very compelling sensation that derives from love and enthusiasm, as well as it has a sense of fidelity tailed to it. As simple as it may seem it is very complex because it can be good or bad.

Common similes for devotion would be dedication, loyalty, fidelity, commitment, and honesty. Phrases that relate are: stuck together, ride-or-die, and "cross my heart and hope to die".

Most commonly, devotion is longed for by many people of both genders, all sexualities, and all ages regardless if the concept of it is understood consciously or not. It is used in business, relationships, work ethic, family, friends, animals, and the environment.

I have created a list of quotes talking about devotion that define it in a few ways and symbolisms.

The "Good" Devotion:

When people refer to "good" devotion, they speak of relationships and fidelity, about remaining loyal to a loved one or that significant other they find as committed as they are to each other.

The "Bad" Devotion:

"Bad" devotion often relates to an obsession, which commonly derives from a crush or "puppy love" for someone else. The puppy love syndrome and obsessive quality usually evolve into another emotion called "desperation" which is discussed separately on this sight.

~Just a Few Devotion Quotes~

The most I can do for my friend is simply to be his friend. I have no wealth to bestow on him. If he knows that I am happy in loving him, he will want no other reward. Is not friendship divine in this?

- Henry David Thoreau

I love thee, I love but thee With a love that shall not die Till the sun grows cold And the stars grow old.
