Love Me If You Can

Toby Keith in "Love Me If You Can" is talking about how he isn't the easiest person to deal with--though the song wasn't written by him--and that since he's a little hard to handle it might be hard to fix. But his desperation isn't necessarily just love; he talks about war and peace, shotguns, television, freedom of speech, and much else within the lyrics. He's not desperate for love, it basically says "you'd have to be deperate to love me."

You may not like where I'm goin'
But you sure know where I stand
Hate me if you want to
Love me if you can

Come Wake Me Up

The Flatts Boys' lead vocalist Gary LeVox shows much passion and desperation in this heartbreaking chart topper when a guy and his girlfriend get into a disagreement and she leaves. He has a nightmare about her getting hurt and is desperate to get her back, so in the end he chases after her.

Tonight your memory burns like a fire
With every one it grows higher and higher
And I can't get over it, I just can't put out this love
I just sit in these flames and pray that you'll come back
Close my eyes tightly, hold on and hope that I'm dreaming
Come wake me up

Let It Hurt

Rascal Flatts is a band with many desperate sounding songs, "Let It Hurt" talks about just letting the pain consume you until you can't feel it.

So let it hurt, let it bleed
Let it take you right down to your knees
Let it burn to the worst degree
May not be what you want, but it's what you need

What About Now

Daughtry portrays the loss of love and desperation for the return of his significant other. He doesn't want to lose her and will do whatever anything to get her back.

Shadows fill an empty heart
As love is fading,
From all the things that we are
But are not saying.
Can we see beyond the stars
And make it to the dawn?

Desperate times call for desperate measures... especially in music. Click on albums for a video.

Riot

This song is filled with saying what would happen if the singer couldn't have the girl he already does. He doesn't want to lose her and if he ever did "there would be a riot" because he loves her THAT much. And he couldn't "live and breathe" without her.

However this song could fall under devotion as well, but more under desperation.

There would be a riot
Breakin' of my heart, I'd try to fight it
I could go out every night but I'd be lyin'
If I said I could live and breathe
Without you

You Belong With Me

Taylor Swift almost seems like the stalker-ish character of a "nerd girl" in love with a football jock who is dating a cheerleader. She states "you belong with me" but the video shows "you belong TO me". In a way, it's almost like possession with the girl always singing about break ups and love.

She wears short skirts
I wear t-shirts
She's cheer captain
And I'm on the bleachers
Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find
That what you're looking for has been here the whole time.

Desperate

Fireflight--a female led band--talks about searching for something that never comes in a single released after their "opposing" titled album "For Those Who Wait". Desperation can be like that, described as wanting something one feels cannot be gotten by said person but is striven for anyway.

I know there's so much at stake,
but I don't know if I can take one more pat on the back saying I'll be okay
Can't you see my whole life is in disarray
